Last Friday evening, following a day of very high humidity....Melbourne was lashed with what we believe, was the tail end of Cyclone Yasi, in a storm that we will not forget in a long time...
We had such torrential rain that, without any warning, caused flash flooding in so many areas that homes and business premises were flooded, roads were impassable, and many cars and people were left stranded.
Our hearts were still with the people of Queensland as they tried to come to terms with first the floods and then the cyclone...and without a doubt there was no comparison between what we have had and what the people of Queensland have endured.
No the water in the bucket is not dirty,,,see the dark blue towel....it was a new one...I sure am glad i did not wash it with others,,,the colour ran....Oh My !!!....When the rain had slowed down and the water was mopped up....DH and I just had time for a coffee,,,,Then it was take 2 .The rain came down so fast and we started again...Our street by this time was a river and we were very touched, as being the "seniors" in our little street a couple of the younger guys paddled through"the river" to check to see if we were OK....That was so nice of them and very much appreciated..
The shop that I work in was also flooded out but glad to say not a lot of stock was lost..and a couple of very kind gentlemen came to the rescue to mop it out....
