One Flower Wednesday

" Better Late Than Never"

Hello everyone...and welcome to another One Flower Wednesday. I am a little bit late this week...but here I am. I have had a really busy week with an extra work shift..so only just managed to get some flowers completed.

This week I would like to introduce you to Sleepy Susie and her little friend Sweet Sophie...

Susie is in her blue striped nightie with her matching nightcap on. Sadly she could not keep awake for the photo shoot. Susie is supposed to be helping me to show you my 4 new flowers for my Flower Garden this week..

Alongside her, is Sophie dressed in burgundy velvet,,,Isn't she lovely? I found that she also had a burgundy ribbon in her hair ...(when I blew the dust of it,,,Ooops)...Sophie is showing you my tiny 1/2 inch hexie flower...it sure looks tiny against the 3/4 inch...

A friend of mine asked me to make one for her to go on a "get well "gift block that she is giving to a friend.I am also putting a tiny butterfly with it ,so hope she likes it.

I do have a little secret to share with you...I have heard on the Blogvine that there is a new gardener in town...She is very new and needs lots of encouragement as she is new to One Flower Wednesday and a very busy lady...I just know that my lovely gardening friends will help me out....She is someone very special to me and I don't think it will take any of you long to work out who she is?

Places Of Interest

This week...I would like to share another of my favorite places.

It is Victor Harbour in South Australia. It is a beautiful place for a relaxing holiday. There are many lovely drives around the area including all the wineries of the McLaren Vale region..(Yes ! they do cellar door taste testing)........yummy!!!!!

Did you notice that I have not told you how very cold and wet is has been?...Spring is only 6 days away....Yippee...the blossom is starting to appear on the trees.

It is now time for me to say "Goodnight from Melbourne".

Until we meet again

Take care

One Flower Wednesday

Hello again from Melbourne..and I am so sorry to be repetitive but yes...it is still cold and wet,but a good time to sit and sew...We have to wait another 18 days to announce that officially Spring is here...but then we have to see what Mother Nature wants to do..she may have other ideas !!

One Flower Wednesday is here again...don't you think the weeks just fly by? This week I have to be on my very best behaviour as I introduce you to Constable T Bear who has kindly come along to help me to display my flowers.

Constable T Bear is a 2003 Heritage Limited Edition, which was commissioned by the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation to commemorate the 150 th Anniversary of the Victorian Police.Since 1853 the Victorian Police have served the people of Victoria Australia and help to make our State a safer place to live.

This week I only managed to get 5 flowers completed because of extra work commitments , but did manage to get fabric cut and ready for quite a few more. so I hope to do a little better next week, despite it being my second week of extra work..here's hoping!
My Flower Garden

Further to my post last week ,when I asked if anyone was able to help me out with the quantities of flowers that I needed to make.........well, my very dear friend Julie in Perth came to the rescue in more ways than one.

Julie very kindly sent to me a lovely parcel of beautiful fabric to add to my stash for my hexagons,(Thank you again so much Julie)...Julie's Mum and my Little Sister in England had also sent me lovely parcels of fabric a few weeks ago so I do feel well spoilt.Bless you all for your kindness.
I was on the phone thanking Julie for the fabric..and she worked out that I needed to look at completing about 330 flowers...WHEW !.
OK...So in the beginning....there was just one little flower ..made with 3/4 inch hexagons...and I joined One Flower Wednesday.
Now they have blossomed to 45...I do hope that you will all keep me company please on my journey through this challenge...

.
I do have to apologise for my very short post this week...and know you will all understand that we all have weeks like this...Do hope that everyone is well and happy..

Until next time
Take care

Kate :)

One Flower Wednesday

Greetings everyone..

Yes ! It"s Wednesday again....and that means 'One Flower Wednesday." My ! How time does fly. There just does not seem to be enough hours in each day. How are you all? Have you had a good week.? I do hope so.
This week I am introducing ANASTASIA to show you my flowers.I have completed 5 this week
This takes me to a total of 40 flowers..I have made my first goal 100...then I will work out just how many more I need..Maths was never a strong point with me, so will have to work it out as I go along..I am going to put a single white path round each flower..My Hexies are 3/4 inch and I am making a Queen Size Quilt...I am thinking that I may have to extend my total to about 120...if anyone can point me in the right direction...please do so ..I will be grateful...but please don't tell me individual hexies...that's in the too hard basket... lol....Somewhere out there in Blogland...my little Sister will be reading this and hoping that the Hexie disease that I have contracted is not hereditary....!!!!

Op Shop Find

This week in the Op Shop I came across a single china cup that took my eye...On examination i found it to be a Royal Albert...Loved the design and colours so I bought it..Now did I really need an odd cup, even if it did come from good stock? Not really, so I turned it into something I could use....A Pin Cushion.

My New Books

This week the postman delivered my parcel of 2 new books from The Book Depository.I can't wait to get stuck into them.
The first one is:-
The Forgotten Children:Fairbridge Farm School and It's Betrayal of Britain's Child Migrants To Australia . By (author) David Hill

The second book is;-
Stolen by Lesley Pearse.

I must tell you the outcome from my post last week.."Please Name My Bear"...Thank you to everyone for their lovely posts and messages ..the result was that many people had the same idea,,,so my newly adopted bear will now be known as PABLO.Many thanks again. My Places of Interest.

This week I would like to show you the picture that i have on my sidebar...The Blue Lake at Mount Gambier South Australia...There is a very good link HERE if you would like to learn more about it.

I think that is about all for now,so until we meet again - Happy Stitching
Take care
Kate :)

One Flower Wednesday

Hello again from a cold and wet Melbourne. Oh dear ! This does seem to be the standard opening to my posts these days...Boy it has been so cold...Mother Nature sure can't win, because in a few weeks time it will be hot and we will be grumbling about that too.!

How are you all? Have you had a good week? Did you manage to get all the stitching you wanted to do finished?
I have to apologise for my absence last week..I had a couple of computer hiccups which prevented me from posting. So my efforts today are really over 2 Wednesdays.
I would like to introduce you to Bailey...another member of my adopted bear family.I rescued him about 18 months ago...He is helping me out today to show you my 7 new flowers. He likes the red one as it matches his outfit....he is a nice little bear and has settled in well with the family...

Please Give Me a Name

Another new member of my bear family was rescued only this week from the Op Shop, along side this cute Box....OK I know..I just could not help myself....!!!! Not quite sure exactly what I am going to do with it but it wanted to come home with me...I have not got a name for my new artist bear,,,any suggestions please?

As well as doing my seven flowers ,this past week I have put my first white "Path" round one of my flowers...I think for the time that this takes I will have to try to do more than one a week...(Encouragement please!)
My Places of Interest

Today's place of interest is Port Isaac in Cornwall. Many of you will know it as the "home " of
Doc Martin...from the TV series of that name. This was a beautiful place to visit and for me holds many happy memories...If you would like to learn more about Port Isaac the link will help you.
This just about completes my post for this Wednesday
Until next time
Take care
Kate
