One Flower Wednesday

Just Made It !!!
Greetings from a sunny Melbourne...yes,that's right, Sunny...we have had a few nice days this week.Spring is definitely in the air..and so it should be, as we only have to wait about five weeks and we will be in Summer. I just love daylight saving as the days lengthen and more time can be spent outside.

I have only just made it in time for One Flower Wednesday.

When I said "Just Made It" that is exactly what I have just done...finished my flower only a short time ago.Only One lonely little flower to add to my garden this week..
I have not been sitting still though.I broke out of my comfort zone of hand stitching last Saturday and went to LQS to do a workshop on a "Quilt as you Go" quilt...This means using my sewing machine...It has been so long since I have used it ..I had forgotten how,,,I had to take my old one with me as my new one..(in the cabinet) has not passed its road test yet...( well ,to be really honest, the machine has but the operator hasn't!!!!) At The workshop we prepared our first block...and yes i loved it...now i have 24 more to do...as soon as I can I will post a picture of it...after the second part of our workshop next week.

I felt so sorry for my one little flower that I took time out so we could both "smell the roses.I am afraid to admit to you that I am no gardener so I am unable to tell you the names of these, except the one that is my favorite.

Here he is ....my favorite rose...

The Beautiful "JUST JOEY". This one is a standard on our front porch and the scent from it is magnificent..wish I could post that to you too...We have to enjoy them while we can before the hot Australian sun comes and burns them.

To finish up I introduced my Hexie flower to our Red Flowering Gum...No flowers as yet but each year these gum nuts get bigger and bigger...

I have been noting on many different blogs the interest shown in the Elm Creek Quilt Novels by Jennifer Chiaverini...I was in my local library and came across this one which i believe is the first one of the series. Please correct me if I am wrong.I am enjoying it very much and look forward to reading the others as they become available.

Hope you have all had a good week...Thank you for visiting me and if I did not make it to your garden this week I am so sorry..but will try to do better next week..

Until then

Take Care

Kate x

PS... I was not trying to duplicate my hexie flower...but this Pic appeared twice,,and this Nan just could not find out to delete it...!!!!!

  14. Your purple flower is wonderful with the fussy-cut petals. It definitely deserves being shown twice.

I hope you enjoy the first book of the Elm Creek series. The author obvious knows and loves quilting, as it's such an important part of the stories. Quilting it not just mentioned in passing. It drives the stories and the characters. I own 7 or 8 (or 9?) of the series and I know the characters so well that they seem like real people.
    Enjoy!
