I have always loved a variety of craft work, but in recent years my focus has been on patchwork and applique.
Like many of my "Quilting Buddies" I have to admit to having a few UFO's .My very first quilt is waiting to be hand quilted.I have made the excuse for months now that the weather here in Australia was too hot to sit under a quilt while i stitched it,,,yes sure!!!..only now the cooler weather is here.........I am waiting to do a work shop for hand Quilting in June/July.!!!!
I had been moving along quite well with an appliqued lap quilt...this was so good to do in warmer weather,,,When i was BITTEN by the Hexie bug. Of course I blame this all on my joining Southern Cross Quilters ...an on line group...From there I learnt of another Yahoo group called Hexagons,,,and before I knew it I was hooked..and sorting out my stash to begin my version of Grandmothers Flower Quilt.Using the English Paper Piecing Method.(EPP)
Just for anyone new to EPP here is an example of Hexagon papers.

On the left is a 1.25cm Hexie and on the right a .75cm Hexie. This is the one I am using for the Flower Quilt.
Some of my flowers in various stages of completion.
I am attempting to make every flower different.(wish me luck)Each flower is connected to the nest one with a circle of White Hexagons.
Ok,,,,so if thats not a big enough WIP...I stumbled across the fabulous work of Sue Daley from Patchwork with Busy Fingers.Well, it just so happened that on Sue's Blog she was doing a Hexagon Tutorial called "This Goes With That" (TGWT)...what a challenge...a variety of Triangle and Diamond shapes that fit together to make a larger Hexagon..What a way to use up your stash.
Again I did a bit of a rummage through my Stash and yes i did buy some new fabric to add interest.(like we do ) I will be able to use some of these in the flower quilt.I still have other colours to add to this and will be able to amend this hopefully after a Colour workshop I am going to in a couple of weeks,,, I have had a bit of a practice on some of the new blocks on scraps of fabric..but now feel i am ready to have a go.Will keep you posted on my progress.Until next time...

Like your fabric choices. Shame you had to buy more material tho. You poor thing!!!
