One Flower Wednesday

Greetings everyone from a cool and damp Melbourne...we have had a fair bit of rain this week again but as I write the sun is trying very hard to peep through...It is Autumn and I guess we must prepare ourselves for some cooler weather..but could it perhaps wait until everyone that is going away for Easter has had some good weather to tide them over winter? I should be saying ,,"Here we are again..for another One Flower Wednesday " BUT today is now in fact THURSDAY....so sorry I am late...will try to get a wriggle on next week. This week I have managed to make 3 new Hexie flowers for my Garden. These are 3/4 inch (0r .75cm)...I particularly liked the fabric I found, that had the little doves on it...thought it was cute..It just goes to show we don't know what we have in our stash until we go digging...!!! If you would like to visit other Hexie Flower Gardens please visit Karen at Journey of a Quilter There are many Hexie Gardens to visit...

OP SHOP FIND -I would like to show you this pretty dish that I have found.. It is stamped Made in Staffordshire England...I just loved it,,,It is a simple design yet very pretty,,and the pink edges just add the finishing touch..I tried very hard to ignore it but it kept saying "Buy Me" so i did :) Next Question...what shall I use it for ???? At the moment I have it on My dressing table to hold my watch etc at night..

Audio Book

I have Just been to the library and this is the Audio book I will be listening to in the next few days while sewing...It is called Days of Hope by Lyn Andrews and is a tale of Post war life in Liverpool.

I am also an avid E reader and have just finished a book called "The Badness of King George"....It was about a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named George..Being owned by two cavaliers myself, this was something close to my heart..Any dog lover would enjoy this book as it was about fostering rescue dogs..

Movies

As anyone seen the movie "Oranges and Sunshine" yet ? Believe it was released in UK on April 1st...I would be very interested in your comments as i have read the book that the film is taken from.."Empty Cradles" by Margaret Humphreys

I do hope that you are all well and happy and that you have a great week stitching ..

Until we meet again

Take care

  2. CUTE hexies, Kate! And the dish is so delicate and unique. I love it and it would have been calling out to me too had I seen it in the store. I saw a tutorial a while back about making dishes such as this into pin holders. They glued a magnet to the bottom so the pins would stay in the dish. Just a thought! Main thing is use it and enjoy it.

  8. Great hexies - I actually prefer the smaller size, and they sew up so quickly! If you can't decide what to do with the dish, just send it to me, and I'll think of something. LOL! I would not have been able to resist that, either.
