One Flower Wednesay

Welcome to One Flower Wednesday. This friendly group is so kindly hosted by Karen at Journey of a Quilter.

Despite being winter, it is a sunny day here in Melbourne...but it is with a heavy heart that I dedicate my blog this afternoon, to Ben, a family friend. We have just arrived home from his very touching funeral. He was a special man, who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

I have managed to make 4 new flowers this week....This now brings my total to 160. I do not seem to be sewing them together very quickly though,,,may have to shortly take a break from making them to allow me time to stitch some together.

The postman has brought me my latest book from The Book Depository - Jelly Roll Sampler Quilts by Pam and Nicky Lintott ......Looking good !!

This week I have also started the big 'Clean Up" and hoping to get my fabric addiction into some sort of order...to get me motivated we bought these stacker drawers for the cupboard...Please wish me luck in my efforts...I will post my progress another time..

I do hope that you have all had a great week and that wherever you are you are well and happy.

Take care

Happy stitching

Kate :) xxx

  3. Your flowers are beautiful! Love the colors. I too am slow at sewing them together - it's more fun to make the individual flowers - lol!
Good luck on your organizational project.

  6. Love the colours. Good luck organizing your fabric, mine are in piles on a shelf and don't stay separated by colour very well when I get rooting around. I like the idea of drawers.

  11. Hello Kate! I am sorry to hear your friend.

It's funny with hexies...when do you start sewing the hexies together? Sew all the flowers then sew them together? Since the hexies are my favorite part, I sew a few...then sew them into the group; then sew a few more hexies. It helps my attention span!! Otherwise, sewing the hexies all together would be too overwhelming for me!

  13. Love your fresh blooms! I was just looking at the stacker drawers a couple days ago while they were on sale, then had to really think about how many I need to throw all of my stash! lol So no purchase of them yet, but as seeing how many you have, I feel a bit comfortable now. (I think I will need as many as you got!)

Just read back through your previous posts - it sounds like you had fun with your visitors - the QAYG hexie project sounds like another fun new challenge. Sorry to read about your family friend.
